In the bustling world of busy schedules and family responsibilities, finding time for fitness can seem like an insurmountable challenge. For Rachel, a working mother with small children, this was her reality until she discovered Timber & Steel through a social media post that would change her fitness journey forever.
Inspired by seeing someone else making time for fitness in their busy life, Rachel decided to take the first step and reach out to the gym. "I was trying to make space in my life for working out and getting stronger," she shares. "I'd felt stuck and had neglected my fitness since having kids, and it was always in the back of my mind to start making it a priority."
From Hesitation to Transformation
What started as a desire to prioritize fitness has blossomed into a transformative journey. Rachel's progress is evident not just in her physical strength, but in her entire approach to life. "My back feels stronger and more able for sure. My legs want to GO!" she enthusiastically explains. The improvements extend far beyond the gym walls - her energy levels have increased, and she's found herself naturally incorporating more movement into her daily life.
One of the most significant changes has been in her motivation and attitude toward exercise. "I love strength days the best because using my body and feeling so strong afterwards is the most powerful thing," Rachel beams. This newfound enthusiasm has even inspired her to take up walking and running, activities she hadn't engaged with in years.
Community Support and Coaching Excellence
At Timber & Steel, Rachel found more than just a gym - she discovered a supportive community and dedicated coaches who understand how to motivate and guide their members. "The coaches are pretty great. They all bring unique personalities and perspectives, and when you find the ones that just get you and how to motivate you, it's just the best."
This supportive environment has led to numerous proud moments, including a particularly memorable evening session with Coach Bertha. During a challenging workout of thrusters, pull-ups, and air bike calories, Rachel found herself pushing beyond her limits, ending with a shared celebration.
Overcoming Obstacles and Looking Forward
Like many busy professionals and parents, Rachel initially struggled with consistently showing up for herself. However, she's overcome this challenge by building sustainable habits and finding ways to work around her schedule. Currently, she's tackling her next goal - nutrition - by participating in the gym's nutrition challenge.
Looking ahead, Rachel's ambitions are clear and inspiring. She's aiming to increase her strength, working towards using the 45-pound bar as her minimum and eventually reaching prescribed workout numbers. "I want to be STRONG! I want to feel good in my body. I want to RUN. I want to have a great and deep squat. And I want to have fun getting there."
A Message for Others
For those feeling uncertain about starting their fitness journey, Rachel's experience offers valuable insight. She emphasizes that while building new habits takes effort, especially with a busy schedule, it's entirely possible with the right support system and commitment.
Rachel's journey at Timber & Steel is a testament to what's possible when you combine personal determination with a supportive community. Her story shows that no matter where you start, with the right environment and mindset, transformative change is within reach.
