Andrea S.
As we approach another beautiful year of fitness and community at Timber & Steel, we're excited to spotlight one of our incredible members who embodies the spirit of strength, determination, and personal growth. Meet Andrea, a vibrant soul who's discovering that life's second chapters can be even more empowering than the first.
Three months ago, Andrea walked through our doors seeking more than just a workout routine. Following a divorce and years of solo workouts in front of the TV, she was ready to reconnect - not just with fitness, but with herself and a community that could help her thrive.
"I was looking to find my true self again," Andrea shares, her authenticity shining through. "I wanted to be part of a community and have someone else hold me accountable and encourage me to work hard."
From Uncertainty to Unstoppable
Like many newcomers to strength training, Andrea wasn't quite sure what to expect. But as an outdoor enthusiast who loves everything from gardening to snowboarding, she sensed that Timber & Steel's approach would align perfectly with her active lifestyle.
Her first group workout? The infamous "Cindy." Andrea recalls with a laugh, "I remember reading the TV screen thinking, 'what the eff did I sign up for?!' But when I finished that workout, I felt so freaking amazing. I realized how strong I am, that I can do hard things."
Strength Beyond the Barbell
As she approaches 40, Andrea's journey has become about much more than just physical gains. "The biggest difference I've felt is overall confidence in myself," she beams. "I've realized over the past 3 months that my body is pretty bad ass!"
Her partner regularly comments on her increasing strength, but the real victory is in how she feels. Even when facing challenges like weight fluctuations during her strength-building journey, Andrea maintains a positive perspective: "I've learned that this is part of the process. My clothes still fit the same, but I'm gaining muscle and can feel how much stronger I am!"
Community and Coaching: The Perfect Formula
Andrea's experience at Timber & Steel has been enriched by our coaching team, with special mention to Coach Bertha, who first welcomed her. "Each coach brings a unique skillset," she notes, "and I'm constantly learning from how they share the correct form and ways to complete workouts."
Looking Forward
What's next for this unstoppable force? Andrea's got her sights set on climbing another "tallest mountain" and learning to kayak this summer. But her ultimate goal? "To live a long healthy life where I can do ALL of the things when I'm old and crusty! Just be a strong- sassy- and classy bitch!"
Words of Wisdom
For those feeling uncertain about starting their fitness journey, Andrea offers this sage advice: "Know yourself and what your needs are. What are you hoping to gain from a fitness journey? Finding a place that supports those very needs while creating a strong sense of community was important to me!"
Andrea's story reminds us that at Timber & Steel, we're not just building stronger bodies - we're fostering confidence, community, and the courage to embrace new challenges. Whether you're recovering from a life change, seeking a supportive community, or simply ready to discover your own strength, there's a place for you here.
