This is why create a customized program for everyone that guides your fitness and nutrition sustainably and effectively and that challenges you but doesn’t feel overwhelming.

Clayton Borah

Founder & Head Coach

Clayton founded Timber & Steel in 2013 with a simple belief: fitness should be holistic, effective, and sustainable—not just what's popular. With certifications in CrossFit L2, TRS Level 2, and CrossFit Gymnastics, he brings over a decade of coaching experience to the gym.

These days, Clayton coaches just a couple sessions per week. His primary focus is developing the Timber & Steel coaching team—helping them become better coaches so every member gets exceptional guidance. He cares deeply about quality movement and proper technique, but always with empathy and a realistic understanding that perfection is something we pursue, not something we achieve.

Bridgett Borah

Founder & Coach

Bridgett co-founded Timber & Steel in 2015 and began coaching in 2016. With certifications in CrossFit Level 1 and TRS Level 2, she brings a unique perspective to coaching—she didn't come from an athletic background, which makes her especially relatable to members who are new to training.

Bridgett prioritizes movement quality and understands how mobility impacts our ability to move correctly. She's exceptional at finding the right scaling options for athletes of all levels, and she coaches a wide range of members—from our Legends (65+) and Teens classes to Personal Training and Semi-Private Training sessions.

If you're looking for a coach who meets you where you are and helps you move better, Bridgett is your person.

Bertha Bock

Coach

Bertha brings decades of coaching experience to Timber & Steel, having been in the fitness industry since the 1980s. She's coached aerobics classes, spent years as a running coach, and even worked at a gym owned by Richard Simmons. After training as a member at Timber & Steel and thriving with our approach, she joined the coaching team and earned her CrossFit Level 2 certification.

Bertha is a well-rounded coach with deep knowledge in overall fitness training and injury rehab. She's a natural cheerleader and encourager, but what sets her apart is how seriously she takes the responsibility of coaching—she views it as a great honor and privilege.

If you're looking for a coach with wisdom, experience, and genuine care for your progress, Bertha is your coach.

Jennie Mura

Coach

Jennie has been part of the Timber & Steel community for years, starting as a member before falling in love with the coaching approach. She's been coaching for close to five years now, balancing her passion for fitness with her full-time career as a speech pathologist.

Certified in CrossFit Level 1 and CrossFit Weightlifting, Jennie is our go-to coach for Olympic lifting. But what makes her coaching special is her ability to meet people exactly where they are. She creates space and permission for members to train in a way that feels best for them on any given day—an approach deeply influenced by her own experience training through the demands of working in a hospital during COVID-19.

If you're looking for a coach who understands flexibility, empathy, and the beauty of a perfect snatch, Jennie is your coach.

Nate Jansen

Coach

Nate is the newest addition to the Timber & Steel coaching team, earning his CrossFit Level 1 certification and joining the staff this year. Like all our coaches, he started as a member and trained with us for several years before stepping into coaching.

What makes Nate stand out is his high emotional intelligence and naturally empathetic coaching style. He's understanding, compassionate, and brings an extroverted energy that creates connection with members. Because he started as a member himself, he deeply understands the struggles people go through and meets them with genuine empathy.

If you're looking for a coach who gets it—and makes you feel seen and supported—Nate is your coach.
