Member Spotlight: Lori P.
Lori wanted her body to keep working for the life she wanted to live. She loves gardening, has two grandchildren, and wants getting up off the floor to feel easier. When she joined Timber & Steel, she was also thinking about losing weight, but staying independent was on the forefront of her mind.
“I don’t want someone needing to take care of me,” she said. Over her first 90 days, the work focused more on how she moved than she’d expected.
“So it’s been more functional than I expected.” Her coach worked with her on what her body needed, and Lori noticed that what she learned followed her home. She paid more attention to how she sat at her desk and how she moved while gardening.
“I love to garden and do things like that and I do them more carefully now.” That awareness was the biggest change she named at her goal review. Training was giving her information she could use throughout her day.
When I asked about her biggest win, Lori’s answer was consistency. She’d kept showing up through the 90-day program. The small session sizes helped: often it was just her and one other person, so her presence would be missed, and that helped keep her on track.
That was a part of training she appreciated. She had a coach working with her, a place to show up, and enough attention to learn what worked for her. “I really wasn’t expecting it when I came here,” she said.
Now she wants to keep building her overall fitness. Getting up from the floor with her grandchildren is one specific reason to keep going. She’s also aiming to add a third training day at home, with support from her coaches as she builds that habit.
If you’re thinking about getting back into training, book a Free Intro Call to talk through what you want to be able to do and what kind of coaching would help. Lori’s advice is straightforward: “I think it’s the best place to go if you don’t know what you’re doing or you aren’t sure how to get back into it.”
