Apathy is the Enemy of Courage

It takes courage to get fit.

It takes courage to make any improvement in your life, and you’re more courageous than you think.

The act of pursuing fitness is setting a standard for your life. You’re actively saying that you’re not ok with sitting around and wasting your life and your body. You are saying that your health means something and that it has value.

Doing so is courageous.

In our culture today, it's easy not to do anything and slowly slide into a state of chronic sickness. So many people do precisely that every day. Instead, you’re choosing to say that something does matter, and in fact, it is you that matters.

It is a common misconception that the opposite of courage is fear or anxiety. The reality is that the opposite of courage is apathy. Choosing to give up and do nothing doesn’t take any courage.

Even addressing your fear or anxiety and recognizing it’s there and how it changes your behaviors takes some courage. Many people choose not to address it or even think about it.

You're pursuing a standard by showing up for yourself and working on your health and fitness.

You are pursuing something that has meaning, and that is amazing. Let me challenge you to keep on caring about yourself. Keep holding yourself to a standard and continue getting off your butt and doing something to meet that standard.

You’re doing something courageous, and that is amazing!
