The Caring Gym

The moniker of “The Caring Gym” is not something that we chose for ourselves, but it’s something that we’ve heard over and over again about the place we’ve created here in downtown Nampa. We aren’t known as that by accident, either. We truly care about each and every person who comes through our doors.

A Safe and Supportive Environment

For us, it is priority number 1 to create a safe place. We recognize it takes a lot of bravery for some people to walk through our doors and admit they need our help. It can be humbling and make a person feel vulnerable. If you’re willing to do that, then the least we can do is honor your effort by providing a safe place to make the life change you’re seeking.

For us creating a safe place includes:

  1. We won’t tell you what to do with your life, but we will give guidance when you’re ready.

  2. We’ll empathize with you and your current situation.

  3. We honor confidentiality.

  4. We accept you no matter your age, race, gender, sexual orientation, religion or opinions.

  5. We know everyone is on a separate journey, and no two people are the same. We won’t try to force you down a path you don’t want to go, but that does not mean we won’t challenge you to try new things and stretch your comfort zone.

  6. We’ll celebrate your successes with you.

For Normal People

What is a normal person? I’m not really sure, but I think you know what we mean when we say normal people. People like you. People like your friends and family. People who get up every day and go to work, come home, run the kids to soccer practice, binge-watch Netflix and maybe like cookies too much. The super duper fitness fanatic that eats, sleeps, and breathes fitness probably will be a little frustrated here.

There are plenty of gyms out there that cater to the fittest among us. That’s good. I’m glad they are there. That way, we can be here for the rest of us—those of us who just want to be as fit as we can be so that for the rest of our lives, we can do whatever we want and not feel limited by our physical fitness. But for us, fitness for fitness's sake isn’t the goal; the goal is a better life.

Improving Lives Through Fitness and Nutrition

We know that for most people a little high-intensity exercise and eating better will improve their lives dramatically. You’ll have more energy and feel better about yourself and those around you. Those are the obvious and expected life improvements.

But we also know that for most people training here becomes about more than just fitness. Even those that come in just wanting a hard workout, if they stick around they’ll be challenged to grow in more ways than they thought. We believe health encompasses your body, your mind and your soul (however you want to define that).

It is not unheard of for people to get job promotions, improve their marriages, have more confidence, learn patience, start new hobbies, and help others improve their lives because of their training here at Timber and Steel. It’s a positive place that encourages you to live a better life.

Timber and Steel provides a safe and supportive environment for normal people to improve their quality of life through fitness and nutrition. We consider it a privilege to journey alongside our existing members, and we’re always looking for new people who think being a part of “The Caring Gym” is something they need in their lives.
